What Do I Need?

CLOTHING

Clothing can help make the cycling experience more enjoyable and safer. Wearing denim pants can make it difficult to pedal. A heavy jacket can restrict motion. It is best to wear light weight clothing that is made of wicking material. Wicking material will help keep you cool while you ride. This material will help remove the sweat from your body and let it evaporate through the fabric.

Tighter fitting material will cling to your body and prevent rubbing against the skin while you ride. This will help prevent chafing and rashes. Shorts will have additional padding that will help on longer rides. Bright clothing will also help you be seen on the road and may also contain reflective material so that you can be seen in low light by others. Lighter clothing, like a rain jacket, can be easily removed and rolled up to fit in a saddle bag or your jersey.

There are many clothing options you can choose from. Your local bike store and the Internet can be a great source of clothing options.
