Julie WaltzIn 2000, after seeing a brochure in a local bicycle shop, team founder, Julie Waltz, volunteered as a SAG driver for the MS150 Bay to Bay Bike Tour in Southern California. She was immediately hooked.

The following year Julie trained and rode dragging others along with her. The original team in 2001 was a friends and family team composed of seven riders raising $3,856! 2002 was the first official year of Team QUALCOMM. The QUALCOMM team started with 21 riders raising $12,305, a significant jump from the first year.

Since that first official year as Team QUALCOMM in 2002, the team has performed at the highest levels during the bike tour consistently ranking in the top 10 out of over 100 teams participating in the Bay to Bay Bike Tour.

In 2006, Julie stepped down as team captain to go on an exciting adventure in Spain. She handed over the torch to fellow coworker and rider, Steven Misrack. Steven took up the challenge as team captain and had the team’s most successful year on record. Team QUALCOMM met its goal of raising over $75,000 with 70 riders. To date, Team QUALCOMM has raised over $270,000 in the fight against MS. Team QUALCOMM expanded in 2006 to include the QUALCOMM offices in Santa Clara & San Jose, CA as well as Portland, OR.

Through the support of employees, management, family and friends of QUALCOMM, Team QUALCOMM will continue its success across the country meeting our ultimate goal of having a QUALCOMM team in every MS 150 Bike Tour where QUALCOMM has an office. Together we will communicate the mission of the National MS Society and connect those with MS to a cure.
